About us
Cromwell Winery Cruises was created through my love for the water and for Central Otago. Having met my wife in Central, we moved to Wellington for work (to drive the Interislander ferries). We longed to return, planning holidays back to Cromwell every year. I have always loved the water, working in various roles since age 14, always on the water. The idea for Cromwell Winery Cruises seemed to be the perfect opportunity to combine my love for Cromwell with my love for the water. The stars lined up, and with my employer offering a generous voluntary redundancy scheme, I decided to take the leap and follow my dream.
Cromwell Winery Cruises was founded on the idea of creating a space to connect. Connecting with your friends and family in a more meaningful way and connecting with the land and water that the wines we love come from. The style of boat is built for socialising, enjoy lounging on the couches and soaking up the views.
This business would not be possible without the connections I have with family and friends. From my cousin lending me his boat to complete the first survey of the Kawarau River, to my brothers helping shape a professional resource consent, and my best friend proving that building your own website is both achievable and worthwhile. Those early acts of support, shared time, and collaboration are the same values that sit at the heart of every cruise. When guests step on board, the aim is simple. To create the space and time for connection.
We are based in Cromwell and proud to showcase this part of the country in a way that so many locals like to enjoy it, out on the water with friends. Whether you are visiting Central Otago or showing it off to friends, our aim is simple. Create a day that you will remember long after the last glass is poured.
